Sinema Continues Congress at Work, Describes District as Potential Epicenter of Innovation

Press Release

Location: Phoenix, AZ

Thursday, Congresswoman Kyrsten Sinema continued her Congress at Work program in Tempe's Susavion. Susavion is an early-stage bioscience firm in its sixth successful year of operation. Arizona biotech firms like Susavion represent the central corridor's quickly expanding technology sector. As part of her Congress at Work program, Sinema is meeting with her district's technology and renewable energy sectors.

Earlier this month, the Arizona Republic reported that the Phoenix metropolitan area is one of the fastest-growing tech markets in the country. Higher salaries that accompany the tech sector have also been reported at an accelerated increase. Similarly, Arizona was ranked second among states growing in solar power installation -- indicating a higher potential for industry and job growth.

"Two years ago, Susavion was the recipient of a small research and development grant," said Sinema. "Today, they are part of an industry that has the brightest potential for turning our state into a viable economic partner to the world. The central business corridor in Phoenix, Tempe, Scottsdale, Mesa and Chandler stands to be an epicenter of innovation, technology and modern investments for the 21st century. I believe that our community has what it takes to lead in America's goal of economic prosperity. We have institutional partners like ASU who help us break ground by incubating the world's most innovative enterprises. We have new, proven seed companies like Susavion that are farming our economic landscape with successful and marketable innovations. And we have large industry partners like Intel and General Dynamics who employ thousands in our community."

Sinema began her Congress at Work program in January. Since then, she has committed to visiting over a dozen business and employers in the district that she represents.
