Congressman Kevin Cramer (R-ND) has been handpicked by House Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy to serve as a member of the House Energy Action Team (HEAT). The purpose of the House Energy Action Team is to supplement ongoing leadership, committee and conference efforts by providing a committed, talented and well-organized group of House members to serve as messengers of energy policy.
The HEAT team will convey that through robust domestic energy production, thousands of jobs are created driving economic success in America.
"We are thrilled to have Kevin join the House Energy Action Team for the 113th Congress," McCarthy said. "North Dakota serves as the second largest oil producer in the entire country and with Kevin's knowledge and background from being an energy regulator, I have no doubt he will serve as a vital member of this team," McCarthy continued. "I am looking forward to working with Kevin and the members of HEAT in advocating for legislation that will allow our country's energy resources to be developed to their fullest potential, while creating jobs and making America energy independent."
Before coming to Congress, Cramer served as a Public Service Commissioner in North Dakota. During his time at the commission, Cramer oversaw the environmental siting of oil and natural gas liquids pipelines, electric transmission lines, wind turbines, and natural gas combustion turbines. He also carried out oversight of coal mine reclamation and economic regulation of electric and natural gas companies.
"I am honored to be a part of the House Energy Action Team," Cramer said. "As a former energy regulator, I know how our natural resources can be developed in a responsible manner while creating jobs, driving economic growth and making America energy independent," Cramer continued. "With the lowest unemployment rate in the nation and development of oil, natural gas, coal, water, and wind resources, we must apply the North Dakota model throughout the country. I look forward to working with Whip McCarthy and other members of this team in efforts to put forth common sense legislation that will do just that."
Congressman Kevin Cramer is a member of the Natural Resources and Science, Space and Technology House Committees, including the Natural Resource Subcommittee on Energy and Mineral Resources, and Subcommittee on Energy of the House Science Space and Technology Committee.
