Congressman Kevin Yoder is cosponsoring a bipartisan bill aimed at making sure the Purple Heart military medal continues to occupy a higher position of precedence above the new Distinguished Warfare Medal. Recently, the Department of Defense established a new medal to award to unmanned drone operators, as well as cyber warfare fighters. Congressman Yoder has received calls from several veterans and veteran groups asking him to review the new medal and sign on as a cosponsor H.R. 833.
"We will always support and recognize the bravery and service of those who protect our values and freedom, both abroad and at home, no matter what their specific task is. We cannot thank our brave military men and women enough for their sacrifice for our country. While we should continue to recognize the courageous efforts of all those who help with new combat needs such as drone operators and cyberfighters, we should continue to award those who risk their lives on the front lines with a medal of higher precedence, and worthy of their risk of ultimate sacrifice for the United States," stated Congressman Yoder.
