U.S. Congressman Marlin Stutzman issued the following statement today, after President Obama's remarks on American energy in Chicago, calling for the immediate approval of the Keystone XL project.
"Americans deserve real action on energy security and job growth, not more empty rhetoric," said Stutzman. "With more than twelve million Americans unable to find work, it's inexcusable for this Administration to block Keystone's 20,000 shovel-ready, private sector jobs. The Keystone pipeline would carry nearly a million more barrels of oil to American refineries each day, creating jobs and strengthening U.S. energy security. Unfortunately, the President has delayed this project for four years in the middle of this country's unemployment crisis. My colleagues and I in the House introduced a balanced budget that approves the Keystone pipeline because our economy needs this common sense solution."
Congressman Stutzman represents the 3rd Congressional District of Indiana and serves on the House Committee on Financial Services. Indiana's 3rd District contains all of Adams, Allen, DeKalb, Huntington, Jay, Lagrange, Noble, Steuben, Wells, and Whitley counties, as well as parts of Blackford and Kosciusko counties.
