Congressman Jeff Duncan Issues Statement on House Budget Votes

Statement

Date: March 21, 2013
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Jeff Duncan of South Carolina issued the following statement on two budgets the House of Representatives voted on this week:

"The House of Representatives voted on two responsible budgets this week, both of which I supported. The RSC Budget, Back to Basics, would balance the budget in four years while cutting discretionary spending and adequately funding defense. I supported this plan, but unfortunately, it didn't pass."

"I also supported Paul Ryan's budget. It reduces deficits by $4.6 trillion over the next ten years, targets wasteful Washington spending, and reforms the drivers of our debt. The Path to Prosperity also locks in the savings from sequestration, calls for the repeal of ObamaCare, and balances the budget in ten years."

"Both of these budgets are solution-oriented plans that would responsibly rein in federal spending and balance the federal budget, which we owe to hard working Americans and future generations. I'm still waiting to see a legitimate budget proposal from either the Senate or the President."
