House Passes Balanced Budget

Press Release

Location: Unknown

The House, with the support of Representative C.W. Bill Young, gave final approval to House Concurrent Resolution 25, the Fiscal Year 2014 Budget Resolution, which would balance the federal budget within 10 years.

Budget resolutions do not have the force of law, but they do provide a vision and framework for spending and tax policies. The recommendations in the resolution adopted by the House would balance the budget for the first time since 2001, restore fairness and simplify the tax code, and preserve and protect Medicare for our seniors.

"We have a plan to balance the budget in the next ten years. The President and the Senate have made it clear that they do not and that they do not believe it is a priority," Young said.

President Obama still has not released his budget this year, the 4th time in five years he has missed the legal deadline. This year's budget was due February 6th. The Senate has not passed a budget in almost four years.
