Letter to Acting Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency Bob Perciasepe - Reimbursement for the Town of Dublin
Statement
Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) this week sent a letter to the Acting Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Bob Perciasepe, regarding a recent issue in the Town of Dublin. Reports indicate that EPA was actively supervising a well drilling crew in November 2012 that was installing monitoring wells near a metal finishing facility in Dublin. Damage was done to a sewer drain during the installation of these wells, resulting in $22,000 in repair costs. An excerpt from that letter:
"It is my understanding that the Town of Dublin approached EPA regarding reimbursement of these repair costs and was denied. If, in fact, EPA was supervising the activity that resulted in damage to the sewer main, EPA should certainly bear the cost of repair.
"I ask that you review this incident and review EPA's rationale for denying reimbursement to the Town of Dublin. Also, please provide me with any appropriate materials used in support of the reimbursement denial."
Today, Griffith said: "I am hopeful that EPA will reverse its decision, and will provide Dublin with the reimbursement it deserves."
