U.S. Senator Mark Pryor today sent letters to President Obama recommending eight Arkansans for the positions of U.S. District Judge for the Eastern District of Arkansas and U.S. District Judge for the Western District of Arkansas. Once nominated by the President, the candidate must testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee and be confirmed by the entire Senate.
"Over the last few months, I've spent time evaluating and reviewing applications for these federal judgeships in Arkansas," Pryor said. "The individuals I've recommended have the qualifications, proper judicial temperament, and ability to be fair and impartial, and I'm confident any one of them would be an asset to our judicial system."
For the vacancy created by Judge Susan Webber Wright Carter assuming senior status, Pryor has recommended the following Arkansans as candidates for U.S. District Judge for the Eastern District of Arkansas:
* Justin T. Allen
* Jane W. Duke
* James "Jay" Moody
* Derrick W. Smith
For the vacancy created by Judge Jimm Larry Hendren assuming senior status, Pryor has recommended the following Arkansans as candidates for U.S. District Judge for the Western District of Arkansas:
* Timothy L. Brooks
* Jon B. Comstock
* Niki T. Cung
* Mark T. Fryauf
