Today, U.S. Rep. Ed Perlmutter commended the President and the bipartisan group of Senators for putting forth a set of principles to begin considering a comprehensive reform of our immigration system.
Perlmutter stated, "My position on comprehensive immigration reform is unchanged, is very simple and has support from both Democrats and Republicans. We should secure our nation's borders, enforce immigration laws in the workplace, improve the process for issuing visas of all types and provide an earned pathway to legal status. These components will ensure a fair, economically feasible solution to our current problem with illegal immigration. I'm encouraged by the renewed focus on this issue from President Obama and the bipartisan group of Senators for acknowledging we need to take a comprehensive approach to reforming our immigration system. I know we can improve our immigration system, and I look forward to working in a bipartisan way to pass comprehensive immigration reform."
