Perlmutter Opposes Partisan Games That Puts U.S. Credit At Risk

Location: Washington, DC

Today, U.S. Rep. Ed Perlmutter (CO-07) issued the following statement about House Republicans' continued gamesmanship on U.S. efforts to avoid defaulting on the national debt:

"I don't support these continued efforts to play games with the full faith and credit of the United States of America. The House Tea Party Republicans' insistence of kicking the can down the road is unacceptable. Congress has been working under the Budget Control Act since its bipartisan passage in 2011, and any notion to the contrary is simply false. We should move forward with a clean vote to raise the debt ceiling and avoid defaulting on our obligations to give businesses and the American people the certainty they need right now as we continue in our economic recovery."
