Nevada Senator Harry Reid released the following statement after appointing Amy Ayoub to the National Commission to Eliminate Child Abuse and Neglect Fatalities:

"Child abuse and neglect is a blight on our country and we must work harder to protect our nation's young people. In Nevada, Amy has been an outspoken advocate for mistreated and neglected children and I am pleased she will be able to take on this issue at the national level. Amy will be a qualified voice on the Commission for those who are unable to stand up for themselves."

About the Commission to Eliminate Child Abuse and Neglect Fatalities

In 2012, Congress passed the Protect Our Kids Act (H.R. 6655) which creates a national commission to recommend ways to prevent child abuse in America. The newly-established 12 member commission will hold hearings and gather information about current federal programs and prevention efforts in order to recommend a comprehensive strategy to reduce and prevent child abuse and neglect fatalities nationwide. Their report will be issued to both Congress and the President.
