Fischer Keeps Promise, Supports Legislation to Fully Repeal Obamacare

U.S. Senator Deb Fischer (R-Neb.) announced today that she is cosponsoring legislation (S. 177) to fully repeal the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, commonly known as ObamaCare, which President Obama signed into law on March 23, 2010.

"As the federal government prepares to fully implement ObamaCare, families across Nebraska are bracing for average premium increases of $2,100. At the same time, more U.S. small businesses are cutting workers rather than hiring -- a troubling trend 61 percent of business owners attribute to the potential cost of ObamaCare," said Senator Fischer.

"I promised Nebraskans I would work to dismantle this law, and I am pleased to join 37 other senators in cosponsoring legislation to fully repeal ObamaCare. While I appreciate the reality that the administration will continue to implement this controversial law, I remain committed to doing my part to repealing it -- in full or in part -- and replacing it with policies that promote more competition among insurance companies, reform our tort system, and embrace preventive care."

In addition to these efforts to fully repeal the law, Senator Fischer is also an original cosponsor of S.40, the "American Liberty Restoration Act," to repeal the individual mandate in the Affordable Care Act. Senator Fischer is also an original cosponsor of S.351, a bill to repeal the Independent Payment Advisory Board (IPAB) included in the Affordable Care Act.
