Reps. Campbell and Moran Kick Off the Congressional Animal Protection Caucus for the 113th Congress

Representative John Campbell (R-CA) and Representative Jim Moran (D-VA) will be officially marking the commencement of the Congressional Animal Protection Caucus (CAPC) for the 113th Congress at a reception in the U.S. Capitol on Tuesday, February 5, 2013.

Representative Campbell, serving his first term as co-chair of the CAPC, has joined returning co-chair, Representative Moran, in leading the Caucus this year. As co-chairs, Campbell and Moran will both be welcoming new and returning Members and reaffirming the mission of the CAPC to educate Members on the need for sensible animal protection legislation.

"I'm very pleased and honored to have the opportunity to work alongside of Congressman Moran in leading this important caucus," said Rep. Campbell. "I look forward to the opportunities the Caucus will have this year to come together in a bipartisan fashion to highlight the animal protection needs that remain unaddressed in this nation."

The CAPC welcome reception will be held on February 5, 2013 from 5:30pm -- 7:00pm in HVC-201 (US Capitol). Reps. Campbell and Moran will host the reception along with the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, the Animal Welfare Institute, the Humane Society of the United States, and the Humane Society Legislative Fund.

The Congressional Animal Protection Caucus is a bipartisan organization made up of 70 Members of Congress committed to raising awareness of animal welfare issues. Through non-partisan forums and briefings, CAPC seeks to highlight important issues affecting animals and upcoming animal welfare legislation. CAPC also tracks the progress of relevant legislation, provides members of Congress with dependable information, and attempts to build broad coalitions in support of common-sense, humane animal welfare laws.
