Linda Sánchez Celebrates Black History Month

Statement

Date: Feb. 4, 2013
Location: Cerritos, CA

Congresswoman Linda Sánchez (CA-38) released the following statement today in honor of Black History Month:

"Every February, we recognize and celebrate the contributions that African Americans have made to the rich history and cultural fabric of our great nation. As we celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation and the upcoming 50th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s march on Washington, we should also recommit ourselves to upholding the inalienable principles of civil rights and equality.

"Let us take the time to commemorate those who fought and struggled to keep the promise of opportunity and equality for everyone. I hope everyone will join me in honoring the extraordinary achievements and contributions that African Americans have made to our country."
