Congresswoman Ann Wagner (R-MO) released the following statement after the Democratic-controlled Senate failed to pass legislation replacing President Obama's sequester:
"I am deeply disappointed that Washington has failed the American people. There will be many hard-working middle-class families in the 2nd District impacted by these arbitrary across-the-board spending cuts and jobs will be lost. Unfortunately, the Democratic-led Senate failed to pass legislation to responsibly replace these harmful cuts. Instead of leading the American people, President Obama and Senate Democrats have been campaigning around the country, inspiring public outrage and pointing fingers rather than doing their jobs. House Republicans have already passed two bills to replace the President's sequester that cut wasteful spending, streamlined government programs and saved hardworking taxpayers billions of dollars. Rather than raising taxes and growing the government, I have offered solutions to replace the President's sequester with responsible cuts and reforms that would protect hardworking taxpayers. I came to Congress to get things done and it's past time that Senate Democrats started working on behalf of the American people instead of against them."
