Governor Maggie Hassan released the following statement praising U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen who, along with New York U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY), introduced the Charlie Morgan Act to make additional benefits available to all military spouses and families, regardless of sexual orientation:

"Honoring Chief Warrant Officer Charlie Morgan's legacy with the introduction of the Charlie Morgan Act ensures that her fight for equal rights will live on. I applaud Senators Shaheen and Gillibrand for taking action to ensure that all families are treated equally, regardless of sexual orientation. Charlie Morgan was a dedicated soldier, wife and mother, whose service and sacrifice exemplify what makes our country and state so strong, and it is fitting that this important piece of legislation bears her name."
