U.S. Sen. Mike Johanns (R-Neb.) tonight released the following statement on President Obama's State of the Union Address:
"Americans deserve better than what they've gotten the past four years. The stirring sound bites we have heard over that time amount to little more than calls for higher taxes and increased spending but they lacked a clear picture how more of the same big-government policies would improve our economy or create jobs.
"I hope the President is prepared to do more in his second term than pay lip service to bipartisanship and trade negotiations. If he is willing to work with Republicans, we are ready to work with him to find responsible, common-sense solutions."
