Pete Sessions Response to President Obama's Remarks on Immigration Reform

Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Congressman Pete Sessions (R-TX-32), Chairman of the House Rules Committee and a Member of House Republican leadership, today released the following statement in response to the President's remarks regarding immigration reform:

"The President's remarks today serve as a sober reminder of another empty campaign promise and a failure of leadership from the Obama Administration. While the President uses this important issue as a political wedge, I will carefully review the proposal offered by the group of Senators yesterday as well as legislation that is drafted from their ideas.

"First and foremost, I strongly believe that we are a nation of laws, and I will continue to stand by my position of opposing blanket amnesty as Congress debates the best approach to fix our nation's broken immigration system. The people of Texas deserve nothing less than a system that will ensure real border security and operational control in areas where it is needed."
