Representative Blake Farenthold Tells Colleagues, 'No Budget, No Pay'

Today, U.S. Representative Blake Farenthold (TX-27) released the following statement regarding his vote to require the Senate to pass a budget before any member of Congress may get their pay.

"One of the most basic responsibilities Congress has is to decide how much money the Federal Government spends. And for nearly four years, Congress has not fulfilled that responsibility. I support this legislation because it holds members of Congress accountable by telling them if we don't pass a budget, we don't get paid.

"We have a spending problem that is crushing our economy and keeping people from finding good jobs. America's problems cannot be resolved by preserving the status quo. The House is leading by putting forward real solutions to end out-of-control government spending, and strengthen our American economy. South Texas families and small business owners must stick to their budgets. It's time for Congress to do the same."
