Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today issued a statement recognizing American Heart Month, which is observed every February:
"Every February Americans observe American Heart Month and work to help increase awareness on how best to prevent and treat heart disease, which is our country's leading cause of death. Nobody is immune to heart disease but there are some simple steps you can take to reduce your risk of developing this debilitating illness. If you eat clean, exercise regularly, avoid cigarettes and alcohol, and get regular health screenings, you reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease greatly. This month please join me in fighting heart disease by encouraging others to stay healthy and keep our hearts strong for the sake of our families and friends."
