Cicilline Accepting Nominations for Congressional Youth Cabinet

Press Release

Date: Jan. 8, 2013
Location: Pawtucket, RI

U.S. Congressman David Cicilline (D-RI) today announced the creation of his Congressional Youth Cabinet.

"As the U.S. Representative for our state's First District, it is imperative that I hear directly from Rhode Islanders, including young people, about the ways decisions made in Washington have an impact on their lives," said Cicilline. "With that in mind, I am pleased to announce that I am providing a new opportunity for Rhode Island high school students to share their ideas with me and learn more about what's happening in Washington through the Youth Cabinet. I have asked every high school in the First District to select a high school junior to serve on the Congressional Youth Cabinet."

Cicilline's Congressional Youth Cabinet will be made up of high school juniors from Rhode Island's First Congressional District -- each high school will have the opportunity to submit one representative by February 1st. The Youth Cabinet will meet quarterly to highlight the ways that decisions made in Washington have a direct impact on young people in Rhode Island. In addition, students participating in the program will gain hands-on experience researching public policy issues and contributing to the democratic process.
