Rothfus Votes for No Budget, No Pay

Location: Washington, DC

Rep. Keith Rothfus [PA-12] made the following statement after the House passed H.R. 325, the No Budget, No Pay Act of 2013.

"Today, I voted to hold all representatives and senators personally responsible if they fail to pass an annual budget," said Rep. Rothfus. "It's pretty simple: no budget, no pay."

"We need to rightsize the federal government and force it to live within its means so that we can grow our economy, get our neighbors back to work, and respect hardworking taxpayers -- and this legislation is an important first step in that direction."

The Senate has failed to pass a budget since April 29, 2009.

The No Budget, No Pay Act would require both the House and Senate to each pass a budget resolution for the 2014 fiscal year by April 15, 2013.

This legislation would temporarily increase the debt limit to allow the federal government to pay its bills through May 19, 2013. H.R. 325 passed the House with a bipartisan majority of 285 to 144.
