Former State Sen. Rick Olseen has joined U.S. Rep. Rick Nolan's staff, the 8th District Minnesota Congressman announced today.

Olseen represented District 17, which includes portions of Chisago and Isanti Counties, in the Minnesota State Senate from 2006 to 2010. He served on the Transportation Committee, the Energy, Utilities, Technology and Communications Committee and the Local Government Operations and Oversight Committee. In his new capacity, Olseen will work closely with Nolan on a wide variety of projects in Pine, Mille Lacs, Chisago, Kanebec and Isanti Counties.

"As a member of the U.S. House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, I'm particularly pleased and excited to bring Rick Olseen's perspective and experience on state and local transportation issues into the mix," Nolan said.

"Moreover, his experience in education as a former school board member, and his experience in local and regional government as a county commissioner, will be invaluable in our efforts to help turn our nation's priorities homeward to generate good paying jobs that build our economy and enhance the quality of life for the people we are privileged to serve."
