Paulsen on Passage of "No Budget, No Pay' Bill

Statement

Representative Erik Paulsen (MN-03), released the following statement after the House passed H.R. 325, The No Budget No Pay Act. The legislation allows Congress to responsibly manage the nation's finances while forcing the Senate to pass a budget, or their pay will be withheld. The legislation passed on a bipartisan vote of 285-144.

"It's too bad we have to take this action to pressure the Senate to do their job. The reality is our national debt has skyrocketed to $16.4 trillion while Washington refuses to make the tough decisions. Hardworking Minnesota taxpayers and small businesses have to balance their own budgets every month, and they expect Washington to do the same. As the father of four daughters, I refuse to send future generations the bills for Washington's wasteful spending. The principle of 'No Budget No Pay' is simple: If you don't do your job, you don't get paid."

Paulsen, a champion of small business and advocate of free enterprise, entrepreneurship, and innovation, currently serves on the House Ways and Means Committee and is co-chair of the Congressional Medical Technology Caucus.
