Congressman Bentivolio's Statement on the CBO's Debt Projection

Press Release

Date: Feb. 5, 2013
Location: Washington, DC

Today, the Congressional Budget Office released its annual update which projected that $7 trillion will be added to the federal debt over the next 10 years if the current spending policies stay in place. Congressman Kerry Bentivolio released the following statement:

"The CBO's projection only confirms that the federal government's spending problem will indebt our children and grandchildren unless we take immediate action. That is why I proposed a series of budget reforms that will attack our growing fiscal crisis. We cannot wait any longer to enact common-sense reforms that will transform the way Washington operates and put America back on the path to prosperity."

Two weeks ago, Congressman Bentivolio proposed three common-sense budget reforms -- end comprehensive spending bills, issue a yearly report to the shareholders, and end baseline budgeting.
