ICYMI - Huizenga Talks No Budget No Pay, Gutless Senate On WHTC

Statement

Date: Jan. 24, 2013
Location: Washington, DC

This morning on WHTC, Congressman Huizenga discussed the House approach to addressing Washington's out of control spending and forcing Senate Democrats to put their money where their mouth is and lay out their plan to reduce spending.

No Budget No Pay Being The First Step:

"I believe what we dubbed the No Budget No Pay Act is a good step. There are so many people who want to have finality with the first step. I equate it to playing chess. We don't have anyone in check or checkmate, but we are moving our pieces on the board and this is exactly what we need to do as we plan on balancing our budget over the next ten years here in the House."

The Senate Failing To Pass A Budget In Nearly 4 Years:

"Now we are looking to see what the Senate will do. They need to act. Frankly it has been gutless that the Senate has not produced a budget in four years. Either they pass a budget to show what their priorities are or they are going to prove that once again they are not willing to make the tough decisions that we must make as a country."
