Congressman Charles W. Boustany, Jr., M.D., (R-South Louisiana) issued the following statement after the White House informed House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan it will not send a budget to Congress by the February 4th deadline imposed by federal law:
"For the fourth time in five years, the Obama Administration will fail to deliver a federal budget by the deadline set forth by federal law. When pressed on how late the submission will be, the Administration answered evasively by simply stating its budget would be submitted "as soon as possible.' This is completely unacceptable.
"As Washington's spending continues to spiral out-of-control due to exploding budgets with trillion dollar deficits, the Obama Administration continues to brazenly shirk its duties. Failing to comply with federal law exhibits the cavalier attitude this Administration has toward federal spending. That sentiment has spilled over into the Senate where it hasn't passed a budget since April of 2009. Taxpayers deserve to know where their money is being spent. Unfortunately, the White House fails to see the value in submitting a budget on time."
