Boustany Votes to Keep Federal Pay Freeze in Place

Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Charles W. Boustany, Jr. M.D. (R-South Louisiana) issued the following statement after supporting legislation to overturn the recent executive order from President Barack Obama removing the pay freeze for federal workers. The legislation introduced by Congressman Mike Fitzgerald (R-PA) passed the House of Representatives earlier tonight:

"President Obama's executive order demonstrates his lack of commitment to balance the budget or be serious about reigning in federal spending,"Boustany said. "I supported the legislation to overturn the executive order and keep federal pay frozen. As we discuss the fiscal cliff and federal spending, it is important for Congress to lead and keep the pay freeze in place. In fact, my office budget has been cut to 2008 levels and is looking at another 10% cut for 2013. It is time for the Senate to perform its job by debating and voting on the important issues facing America and passing this bill."
