Boustany Seeks to Have Imprisoned U.S. Marine Returned Home from Mexican Jail

Statement

Date: Dec. 20, 2012
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Charles W. Boustany, Jr. M.D. (R-South Louisiana) issued the following statement after expressing concern over the well-being of an unjustly imprisoned United States Marine, Jon M. Hammar, in a Mexican jail:

"Jon Hammar sought to comply with the law in Mexico. He was given the wrong information by United States Customs and Border Protection agents, was subsequently unjustly imprisoned, and continues to suffer at the hands of Mexican authorities. I am seeking for the Secretaries of the State Department and Homeland Security to take immediate action in resolving this situation with the Mexican government. As a combat veteran, Jon and his family deserve to have the United States government intervene on his behalf and bring him home."
