Rep. Yoder's Statement on House Passage of ‘No Budget, No Pay'

Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Kevin Yoder made the following statement after the House earlier today passed H.R. 325 -- the "No Budget, No Pay' legislation. The bill states if either Chamber of Congress does not pass a budget before April 15, Members will not be paid their salaries. H. Res 325 passed the House by a vote of 285-144. Congressman Yoder voted "Yes" in favor of the legislation, which now heads to the Senate.

"My biggest frustration has been Congress' inability to do the basics. We cannot responsibly plan for the future without getting our finances in order, and we cannot do this without a federal budget," stated Congressman Yoder. "It's been over four years since the Senate last passed a budget; but as we begin a new session, I renew my hope and optimism we can now seriously address the dire financial situation we see immediately ahead. "No Budget, No Pay' simply ensures Congress does the work we are elected to do."
