Tuesday, January 22, 2013 marks the 40th Anniversary of Roe v. Wade. Congressman Tim Huelskamp and his wife, Angela, long-time pro-life advocates and adoptive parents of four children, issued the following statement about the sad commemoration:

"To the millions of Americans who will march in Washington or in their state capitals to mark this tragic anniversary, thank you for standing strong, and thank you for your efforts to spread the culture of life. Thank you for refusing to back down -- especially in the face of the most pro-abortion president in history.

"After 40 years battling for the lives of unborn children, we are now also fighting for the constitutional rights of all Americans. By forcing Americans to pay for abortions and abortion drugs and funneling millions of taxpayer dollars to the largest abortionist in the world - Planned Parenthood - President Obama and Secretary Kathleen Sebelius are assaulting our first and most basic right: religious liberty.

"We encourage all women and men of all faiths, particularly Catholics and other Christians who are clearly targeted in HHS's mandates, to refuse to comply with the Obama Administration's attempt to force their radical, pro-abortion mentality on us. Fifty-five million abortions later, the unmistakable scientific evidence cannot be denied - abortion takes the life of a unique human being. We should act as such."
