Visclosky Statement on Automatic Spending Cuts and Expiration of Bush Tax Cuts

Statement

Date: Dec. 31, 2012
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Peter J. Visclosky released the statement below following the breakdown in negotiations over a remedy for impending spending cuts and tax increases.

"I am appalled and angry that Congress could not make discrete decisions to bring our fiscal house in order. Tonight's deadline has been pending for more than a year, and I have continually worked to encourage my colleagues in both parties to take thoughtful and comprehensive action on the issues before us. Congress has abdicated its responsibility to provide certainty to all American families and businesses."
