Today, U.S. Representative Mike Quigley (IL-05) released the following statement regarding the proposed Illinois Tollway Elgin O'Hare Western Access Project, which received final approval yesterday by the U.S. Department of Transportation.
"The Elgin O'Hare Western Access Project will ease regional traffic congestion and bring down commuters' fuel costs, while creating thousands of new jobs and promoting economic growth. I have advocated for this project since my election to Congress and am excited to see it move one step closer to reality. It represents the type of major infrastructure investments we should make across the country to move America forward."
Now in his third term in Congress, Rep. Quigley believes infrastructure investment is critical to economic recovery and growth. He was recently appointed to the House Committee on Appropriations, where he intends to make Chicago-area infrastructure investment a top priority as a member of the Subcommittee on Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies. Rep. Quigley is also a member of the New Democrat Coalition, which sees infrastructure investment as a path to global economic competitiveness and America's future security.
