Lujan Grisham Votes to Help Sandy Families Rebuild

Location: Washington, DC

Tonight, Congresswoman Michelle Lujan Grisham (NM-01) released the following statement after voting to provide $50.4 Billion in additional federal disaster aid to help the families and businesses affected by Hurricane Sandy.

"I'm proud that we put partisanship aside to put the victims of Hurricane Sandy first. This long-awaited aid package, while not perfect, will help families and businesses get the resources they need to begin rebuilding their homes and work places and finally return people to their communities.

"This aid will also put people back to work rebuilding critical infrastructure like highways, transit and wastewater systems that were damaged by the storm. In addition, there is funding to repair damaged farmland & natural ecosystems, and increase the resiliency of coastal habitat and infrastructure to withstand future storms."
