"I am pleased that we have now a firm commitment from House Speaker John Boehner and Majority Leader Eric Cantor to provide a vote on emergency assistance to New Jersey, the greater New York metropolitan area and other states affected by Hurricane Sandy. As a first step, the House will replenish the National Flood Insurance Program's funds on Friday.
"Emergency funding for the victims of Sandy has been a high priority for me and I have been working side-by-side with Governor Christie, the Appropriations Committee and my bipartisan Congressional delegation to provide assistance to the tens of thousands of residents and businesses who are suffering tremendously. I remain optimistic about the prospect of passage of my amendment to provide $33 billion in additional funding when the House takes up the emergency supplemental on January 15."
