Congressman Robert Pittenger Committed To Bipartisanship

Statement

Date: Jan. 8, 2013
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Robert Pittenger (NC-09) was the only North Carolina Congressman to attend an important bi-partisan briefing on entitlement and tax reform, health care, cyber threats, China, and issues in the Middle East. The Congressional Research Service seminar, which concluded this morning, was open to all new Members of Congress.

Last month, Congressman Pittenger was one of only 9 GOP freshmen to attend a Harvard University conference on bipartisanship where participants discussed alternate positions on current issues.

"My commitment to bipartisanship is more than a campaign slogan. These conferences were helpful in understanding current domestic and foreign policy issues and in developing relationships with colleagues from across the aisle. By working together, we can bring free market reforms to government policies that will help create jobs and grow our economy."

Almost 50 newly-elected members of Congress attended the conference at Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government in mid-December.
