Senator Blunt: Another Year, Another Budget Deadline Missed By President Obama

Statement

Date: Feb. 4, 2013
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Senator Roy Blunt (Mo.) released the following statement regarding President Barack Obama's failure to submit a budget to Congress by the legal
deadline today. According to the Budget and Accounting Act of 1921, the president is required to submit his budget to Congress this year by February 4, 2013:

"Another year, another budget deadline missed by President Obama. At a time when America needs a clear and responsible economic blueprint to rein in reckless federal spending, President Obama has missed the required budget deadline more than any other president before him. Meanwhile, the Democrat-controlled Senate has failed to pass a budget for more than 1,375 days. It's been said that failing to plan is planning to fail. When it comes to our budgetary future, I'm disappointed that's the Democrats' strategy."
