Senator Blunt's Statement On Shutdown Of Jobs Council

Statement

Date: Jan. 31, 2013
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Senator Roy Blunt (Mo.) issued the following statement today in light of the announcement that the White House will disband its Jobs Council:

"Unbelievable. Our nation's economy shrank during the last quarter of 2012 for the first time since the recession ended, national unemployment is still hovering near 8 percent, and more than 12 million Americans are still looking for work. Yet President Obama is giving up on his Jobs Council after it only met four times since 2011 -- the most recent of which was almost a year ago.

"Instead of pointing fingers and giving campaign-style speeches, the president and his administration need to get serious about jumpstarting our economy. That means reining in reckless spending and working together to pass pro-growth policies in order to help put more people back to work."
