Today, Congresswoman Janice Hahn, a member of the House Democratic Gun Violence Prevention Task Force, pledged her support for President Obama's proposals to combat the ongoing tragedy of gun violence in America.

"The tragedy of gun violence is all too familiar to my communities," said Congresswoman Hahn. "We've been to too many funerals. We've seen the endless, easy death that guns bring to our streets, our homes and our schools. Congress needs to act, and I hope we move immediately on the President's proposals."

"We need to require universal background checks on gun purchases, so that guns don't fall into the wrong hands. We need to strengthen our mental health system to help prevent future tragedies," continued Congresswoman Hahn. "And we need to ban the military-style assault weapons and high-capacity magazines whose only purpose is to deal out the maximum amount of death in the minimum amount of time. I call upon my colleagues in Congress on both sides of the aisle to support these common sense reforms. We cannot let this go on any longer."
