Location: Washington, DC

Montana's senior U.S. Senator Max Baucus hailed the news today that SeaCast's Butte facility will be ramping up production for GE Aviation through a new joint venture, Montana Precision Products.

The opportunity took a pivotal step forward at Senator Baucus' 2010 Montana Economic Development Summit in Butte where GE Chairman and CEO, Jeff Immelt was invited to serve as a keynote speaker.

"Great news like this is what our Montana Economic Development Summits are all about: bringing the right people together to create good-paying jobs," said Baucus. "This is great news for Butte and sends the signal far and wide that Montana is an innovative and great place to build the kinds of partnerships that will move our economy forward. My hat goes off to the folks at SeaCast and GE for coming together for Montana jobs. "

Supporting Montana Jobs: Montana Economic Development Summits and Beyond

Baucus has held five Montana Economic Development Summits over the years working in conjunction with local partners to bring the biggest names in global business to Montana to work directly with Montana businesses and entrepreneurs on ways to create good-paying Montana jobs. The Summits have yielded important relationships that have fostered Montana jobs.

Last month, Baucus announced $24,000 of funds left over from the 5th Economic Development Summit in 2010 will go toward helping support good-paying high-tech Montana jobs by assisting in plans to expand MSU's Innovation Campus to serve more than 100 companies. Last December, Baucus announced $25,000 of the funds left over from the summit will go toward the establishment of a new doctoral program at Montana Tech. Building upon the theme of the summit, "Montana Solutions for Montana Jobs" the funds may be used to invest in new opportunities for securing job opportunities for Montanans.
