Statement

Date: Nov. 20, 2012
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Representative Candice Miller (MI-10), Chairman of the Homeland Security Subcommittee on Border and Maritime Security, today released the following statement on the arrest of four individuals charged with plotting terrorist acts on American personnel and bases overseas. Rep. Miller said:

"I congratulate the FBI and everyone involved in the subsequent arrest of these individuals who were influenced by the now deceased radical cleric Anwar al-Awlakito travel to Afghanistan for the purpose of conducting attacks on American military bases and personnel. Al-Qa'ida's twisted ideology continues to inspire acts of violence both at home and abroad and this incident is a somber reminder that the War on Terror is far from over."
