Congressman Jim Himes (CT-4) released the following statement regarding recent violence in the Middle East.

"I am pleased that the ceasefire will stop the violence in Israel and Gaza, and hope that discussions can replace that violence. However, Israel has and will have the unfettered right to defend itself from the outrageous violence aimed at its civilians originating in Gaza. I will continue to support Israel's right to defend itself while praying for a peaceful end to conflict in the region."
