Location: New York

Congressman Bob Turner (NY-09) today praised New Yorkers' resilience and agreed with the decision to cancel the New York City Marathon scheduled for this Sunday.

"New York City has always been adept at handling complex situations. The first step when dealing with a difficult situation, such as the one we are currently faced with, is to ensure our priorities are in order. There is no doubt that right now our number one focus should be getting disaster relief to those who have been affected by this storm. The decision to cancel this weekend's marathon was the right thing to do. People around the world are once again being shown the resilience of New Yorkers and the unity of this great country as we continue to come together and help one another recover and rebuild from this devastating hurricane."
