Today, Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-5) met with a committee of business leaders from the Prince George's County Chamber of Commerce to discuss the economy and the looming fiscal cliff.
"I was pleased to join business leaders from the Prince George's County Chamber of Commerce to discuss how we can continue to grow our local economy and create jobs here in the Fifth District," stated Congressman Hoyer. "As our economy continues to recover, our business leaders are looking to Congress to provide certainty. I'm committed to doing so by addressing the upcoming fiscal cliff and replacing the pending sequester with a balanced plan that asks all Americans to pay their fair share. I look forward to working with these leaders to create well-paying jobs in Maryland and ensure our businesses can succeed."
The business leaders who met with Congressman Hoyer today are members of the Center for Leadership in Enterprise and Strategic Development (LEAD) Committee, which was formed by the Prince George's County Chamber of Commerce. The Committee aims to bring together business and political leaders in Prince George's County to discuss economic development at a meeting each month. The meeting today was their first, and Congressman Hoyer spoke at their invitation.
