A product of Crossett Public Schools and the University of Arkansas at Monticello, Gene Jeffress was a music teacher for 28 years in the Fairview School District (now Camden-Fairview), and drove a yellow school bus for 27 years. As a state legislator, Gene has been an advocate for strong public schools, and believes in local control of school districts. One of Arkansas's greatest resources is its wonderful educators, and they should be treated with respect for dedicating their time and talents to educating our youth.
Gene believes that higher education should be affordable and more accessible for all Arkansans and Americans. That's why we must continue to invest in our 2-year and 4-year institutions and workforce training programs. Here in Arkansas , we need to see our graduation rates increase because it is common knowledge that per capita income is directly tied to educational levels.
