Issue Position: Do you think Maine's school consolidation program has been successful?

Issue Position

Date: Jan. 1, 2012
Issues: Education

The consolidation has lowered some costs and made the school systems more efficient. More important than consolidation is to make our education relevant to the twenty-first century. Education should be about problem-solving, communication, collaboration not about learning to take tests. High-quality teachers are being prevented from using their skills to impart the skills that it takes to be involved citizens.
