Press Release

Date: Oct. 22, 2012
Location: Metairie, LA

U.S. Sen. David Vitter announced that he will host town hall meetings this week to hear from constituents in East Carroll and Franklin parishes. Vitter will also tour the Madison Parish Port, visit the Chennault Military Museum, speak at the Monroe Rotary luncheon and speak at the Shreveport Chamber of Commerce breakfast.

In addition to the town hall meetings and events, Vitter is hosting a ceremony at St. Timothy's Cemetery in Black Bayou National Wildlife Refuge near Monroe on Thursday, October 25 to replace the tombstone of World War I veteran Charlie May. Vitter was able to help replace his tombstone which was falling apart to ensure Charlie May is not forgotten. After the ceremony, Vitter will also tour St. Timothy's Cemetery with officials.

"Meeting with Louisianians and visiting communities across the state is one of the most important parts of my job," said Vitter. "It allows me to hear about the issues most important to people in Louisiana. I'm looking forward to visiting with folks and discussing my efforts to bring Louisiana common sense to Washington, reform the culture of runaway federal spending, and develop positive solutions to get our economy going again."
