Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart Applauds Goss' CIA Shake Up

WASHINGTON-Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart (R-Fla.) today applauded new CIA Director Porter Goss for his willingness to shake up the Central Intelligence Agency.

"The 9/11 Commission's report was clear that serious internal reforms are needed at the CIA," Diaz-Balart said. "As we can clearly see, Porter Goss is giving the agency the shake up it has long needed.

"Before his confirmation, people questioned whether Goss would be willing to make tough reforms at the agency. Now that he has begun those tough reforms, people are saying he is going too far. Goss understands the difficult steps the CIA has to make.

"I applaud Goss' courageous efforts to improve the CIA's performance no matter whose feathers he ruffles."
