As a family member and brother, I experienced the tragedy of losing my eight year old brother, Ralph, to a drunk driver in 1975. My parents, family members, and I were devastated by this loss. The driver pled guilty to vehicular homicide and only received six weekends in jail. We need to make sure people are held accountable for their actions and ensure victims know and feel they are supported.

As a member of the Washington State Patrol, I had the privilege of serving the citizens of Washington State for 30 years. As a trooper assigned to East Pierce County from 1983 to 1994, I dealt with the tragic circumstances of fatal traffic collisions all too often. I know how important it is for people to feel safe in their homes and on our roadways. I'll fight to ensure our public safety officials have the resources and tools they need to keep us safe.
