Issue Position: Jobs and the Economy

Issue Position

Date: Jan. 1, 2012

Building a strong economy should be the top priority of the Legislature. This starts by creating a business friendly environment to attract new jobs to our area. We must also work to create livable family-wage jobs immediately. One way is by investing in our infrastructure. We should stop subsidizing companies that take jobs overseas or out of state by closing tax loopholes that don't help create jobs in our community. Instead, we should build a fair and equitable tax structure that provides resources needed to support our citizens and local communities. We need jobs created here and retained here in our communities.
